SBE Journal

I arrived at SK Sultan Ismail at 7.25 a.m. The
traffic was terrible as this school is located in the urban area. As soon as I
went to the office, I introduce myself to the school clerk as a student from
IPG Kampus Pendidikan Teknik and showed her my statement letter. I was introduced
to Puan Aminah, the GPK of SK Sultan Ismail. She assigned me to Puan Majidah as
my mentor. However, she was on her medical check-up leave and I could not discuss
further on my assignments that are supposed to be carried on during SBE. Therefore,
I told Puan Aminah that I would need to conduct my lesson plan for my PRKA3012’s
assignment and a quick test for my EDUP3063i’s assignment. She told me that I
would have to discuss with Puan Majidah if it is possible to use my lesson plan
in her classroom and for my EDUP3063i’s assignment, she approved me to use
relief classes to conduct the test.

It was my second day at SK Sultan Ismail. Puan Majidah took a two-day leave as she fell down in her bathroom and the Doctor suggested her to take a rest first. Hence, I would not be able to discuss about my PRKA3012’s assignment and I decided to interview the school staffs for my SBE Portfolio. I went to the guards and asked some questions regarding the school. The guards explained on why there are chairs under the school’s administration parking lot and pupils’ movement in and out of school. I also went for relief classes and play games with the pupils. Although there were some times they were not able to control their excitement, they were really great at following my instructions.

Puan Majidah called me last night to apologize for
her sudden leave and her inability to help me for my assignments. However, she
promised that she would come to school on Wednesday and only then we would be
able to discuss about my PRKA3012’s assignment. I planned to conduct a test for
two classes that I would come in during Puan Majidah’s period. The pupils had
no experience in answering a test and I explained to them on how to answer certain
questions that they are not familiar with. They were cooperative during the
test and they were able to follow instructions given.

I texted Puan Majidah as soon as I had arrived
at SK Sultan Ismail. She asked me to enroll in her class which was on the first
and second period before our further discussion. I was able to observe her teaching
style and how she managed the class. All pupils were involved during her teaching
and by the production stage, pupils showed that they were already understand
the lesson taught. After her class, we discussed about how I could conduct my
lesson plan and she suggested for me to adapt the stages in my lesson plan for
the topic that she was teaching so that it would not affect pupils’ learning.

It was finally my last day at SK Sultan Ismail.
My assignment for PRKA3012 were conducted smoothly with cooperation with Puan
Majidah and her pupils. There were also a programme organized by nutritionist
from UMT for Year 5 pupils. The exhibition take place from 10.30 a.m until 1.15
p.m. and the other pupils from Year 1 until Year 6 were also invited to learn
more about food pyramid.
